What families found most useful

Chiang Mai — Retired
My wife and I had papers scattered across three different folders, two drawers, and a box that never quite got unpacked after our move here. The Records Set-Up service was exactly what we needed. Robert spent two afternoons with us and we left with a properly labelled system we can both navigate. The handover walkthrough was particularly helpful — my wife had not been at all the sorting sessions but understood the layout immediately.

I came to the Information Session not really knowing what I was looking for. What I got was a very clear picture of the categories of documents a family in my position typically needs to have in order — and which ones I was missing entirely. It took about two hours and I came away with a printed map and a list of tasks I could actually work through. I have since gone back for the Set-Up Support.

The Companion service has been worth the annual fee. We had the set-up done last year and I was worried things would drift back into disorder within a few months. The quarterly sessions have kept everything current — two renewals, a new insurance policy, and a change of address all absorbed without any fuss. Sophie handles the communication side smoothly and keeps me from having to think about it between sessions.

My situation involved documents from three different countries and a mix of original paperwork and scanned copies. I had been putting off dealing with it for over a year. Nattawee was patient and thorough — nothing was treated as too obscure or complicated. The finished index is something I can actually show my son when he visits so he understands what we have and where to find it.

Straightforward and professional. I came for the Information Session and was clear beforehand that I only wanted an overview — there was no pressure at all to go further. The milestone map structure was genuinely useful for understanding what I was dealing with. The session ran slightly over time, which was fine, and I appreciated that questions were encouraged rather than deferred.

After my husband passed, I found myself with a drawer of documents I could not make sense of. A friend who had used Cairnstone suggested I get in touch. The team were calm and unhurried throughout — nothing was treated as urgent or alarming, everything was approached practically. We ended up with a complete inventory covering both my own papers and the estate documents, organised in a way I understand. I cannot overstate how much that clarity has helped.

Case Study 01 · Records Set-Up Support
A retired couple with mixed UK and Thai documents
The Situation
A couple in their late sixties, settled in Khon Kaen for eight years. Papers from the UK included pension correspondence, property sale documents, and UK bank records. Thai side included lease agreements, vehicle registration, and local insurance policies — all in different folders with no cross-reference.
What We Did
Three working sessions over two weeks. Sorted all materials into a dual-section system — UK records and Thailand records — with a shared index covering both. Labels produced in English. Expiry dates noted in the index for three documents due for renewal within eighteen months.
The Outcome
Complete indexed system covering 47 documents across both countries. The couple's adult daughter, visiting from the UK, was shown the system during the handover and commented that she could navigate it without any explanation. The family subsequently joined the Companion service.
"We finally feel like our affairs are in order — and more importantly, our daughter knows where everything is."

A widow beginning the process alone
The Situation
A woman in her seventies, recently widowed, referred by a family friend. She had never taken stock of the household records herself and was not sure where to begin. The initial enquiry was cautious — she wanted to understand what the work involved before committing.
What We Did
Started with an Information Session to map the landscape — no pressure, no immediate action required. She returned six weeks later for the Records Set-Up. Over three sessions we worked through the full household inventory, including estate documents she had been uncertain how to approach.
The Outcome
A complete, navigable inventory covering estate and personal records. Timeline: Information Session in March, Set-Up completed in May. Client described the process as "much less daunting than I expected." Now on the annual Companion service.
"The Information Session let me see it all without committing to anything. That was important for me at the time."
